Ep. 16: Changing Paradigms with Special Guest Nick Holmes

Hi there!

If you've been around long enough, you've heard the old Henry Ford maxim, "If you think you can or if you think you can, you're right!" So watch those thoughts, guys! šŸ˜‰

I had the pleasure of interviewing solution-focused hypnotherapist Nick Holmes who gave wonderful insights on how we can live our lives to the fullest as we navigate these challenging times.

He blessed us with an 11-minute meditation near the end that had me feeling really focused and calm at the end. I will be excerpting it out separately so you can enjoy it in isolation as well. Please pause when you get to the meditation if you're driving or are not in a quiet place to settle in.

When human beings experience trauma or severe life stresses, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. His great passion is bringing healing to people whoā€™ve been through a traumatic/stressful experience. He helps his clients find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships to regain their inner strength and lead a fulfilling and peaceful life.

He knows that no single approach is right for every individual, so heā€™s been trained in a range of modalities, including solution-focused hypnotherapy, solution-focused brief therapy, neurolinguistic programming, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

His educational background includes a Diploma in Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy from the Clifton Practice in Bristol UK and a Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma from the National Council for Hypnotherapy. He is a member of the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, the National Council for Hypnotherapy, and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council.

Carol Dickson-Carr

When people used to ask me what I do for a living for the past 14 years or so, I simplify by saying, ā€œI teach people stuff.ā€

Teaching is my passion!

My undergraduate and graduate degrees are in economics and Iā€™ve also received Coach training in various programs since 2004. Prior to moving to Dallas in 2007, I worked in the private sector calculating economic damages for an employment litigation firm for six years and was a legislative analyst for the House Finance and Tax Committee at the Florida Legislature for a little over five years. (Yawn)

I teach economics and workplace writing at Southern Methodist University and my teaching doesnā€™t stop on campusā€”nor do the subjects! I have a passion for things that keep me sane, such as music and movement. They started as hobbies but became moneymakers in private music lessons, play-shops, and fitness (Pilates and Dance). My days are NEVER dull!
