Episode 4

Ep. 4: Self-esteem, the identity pigeon-hole, and passion!

Sometimes what stops us is people trying to attribute labels to us that don't even fit. And if done enough, it can do a real number to our self-esteem. In this episode, you'll learn or be reminded of ways to just go for it in whimsical ways that feel good instead of being paralyzed by self-doubt. You might even get a reframe with respect to how to start your day so you're not as affected by what comes your way throughout the day. šŸ˜Š

Itā€™s possible to have a successful portfolio career if you have the personality for it (making money using all of your passions). Some multi-passionate people want to keep the fun for hobbies and the good enough job to pay the bills separate from one another, which totally is cool too. Which one are you? When people used to ask me what I do for a living for the past 14 years or so, I simplify by saying, ā€œI teach people stuff.ā€

Teaching is my passion!

My undergraduate and graduate degrees are in economics and Iā€™ve also received Coach training in various programs since 2004. Prior to moving to Dallas in 2007, I worked in the private sector calculating economic damages for an employment litigation firm for six years and was a legislative analyst for the House Finance and Tax Committee at the Florida Legislature for a little over five years. (Yawn)

I teach economics and workplace writing at Southern Methodist University and my teaching doesnā€™t stop on campusā€”nor do the subjects! I have a passion for things that keep me sane, such as music and movement. They started as hobbies but became moneymakers in private music lessons, play-shops, and fitness (Pilates and Dance). My days are NEVER dull!
